Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00544Taz (male)

Cairn Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We have had Taz for just a couple few days but he fits in so well and gets along so well (with people and dogs) it feels like we have had him for years! He is a sweet male Terrier mix with dark/black fur and his head looks like he had professional highlights. He has a great disposition and is very happy and playful. He sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He had an accident in the house the first day, but with correction, he now goes out the doggy door to take care of his business. He may have been chained up before he was rescued by K-9 as he has an abscess around his neck - it is healing nicely. So you may not even notice when you come to ... (Read More)meet this handsome boy at the adoption center this weekend! Taz is around 1 yr old and about 18 lbs. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. PUPPIES: Puppies that haven't had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center at our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application, and if approved, a meeting can be arranged. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions, however, the adopter MUST come get the dog/puppy and bring them home with them. We do not allow our dogs/puppies to be shipped. ADOPTION FEE: $200 (includes spay/neuter, shots, microchip, medicines and other medical procedures, if necessary) ADOPTION CENTER: 2409 Montrose Ave (near Fairview), Houston, TX 77006 HOURS: Saturdays 10 AM - 6 PM and Sundays 11 AM - 3:30 PM Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00541Spartacus (male)

Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

My name is Spartacus. I'm a brand new, 6-week-old puppy. I love to play and eat and play some more and take naps. I love shoe laces and chasing my older foster sister. I like to be held real close so I feel safe. I am crate-trained and working very hard towards being house-trained. I have the occassional accident if my foster mom doesn't take me outside once an hour. I'm still a tiny baby--give me a break! I love to curl up in the corner where all of the blankets are kept and sleep for a few hours. My foster mom loves to play a game called, 'No, Spartacus!' It's a fun game where we play tug of war with her work laptop chord or her important ... (Read More)business papers. She started keeping all of those things real high out of my reach so we can play again when I get bigger, I guess. The only time I cry is when I'm in my crate at night, but I do it less every night because I'm getting comfy at my foster mom's...well, and sometimes when my foster sister gets on the couch and I can't reach it yet. That makes me sad. I am a little lovebug and love kisses and cuddles. I am excited for my forever home and to meet my forever parents so I can melt their hearts with my beautiful blue eyes and loving personality! Spartacus is a Boxer/Lab mix puppy who is around 6 weeks old. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

They call me Layla because that's what I love to do. I'll play with my sister, Honey, but I'm more content just to lay around and relax. I'm pretty shy, but I still love every human I meet. I love a good cuddle and to be held. I'm very easy going. I'm still learning what these potty pads are all about, but I'm getting better and better everyday! I adore being in my crate. It's my favorite place. I sleep through the night there, too! I can't wait to find my forever home and have a family to forever relax with! Layla is a Lab/Boxer mix puppy who is around 6 weeks old. Boxer Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My foster mom has been calling me Honey because I'm so sweet. I'm small but mighty! My sister might be bigger than me, but that doesn't slow me down at all! I love to play, but I love to cuddle just as much. I'm such a ham and LOVE attention! I also LOVE to be held or just to sit on your lap. I HATE not being able to be near you or to not be able to see you! Every human I meet becomes my ne...w best friend! I'm still too young to be around other dogs, but I play great with my sister, Layla. I'm a good eater, and I even pee on pee pads like a pro! I sleep through the night and I love my crate. Health: Needs to be Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Barbie is such a sweet girl. I can't imagine how someone could leave her alone in the cold?! She's only been 'home' for a few days, but she's pretty sure she's lived here all her life! She just got groomed and the whole house is anxiously awaiting her new pups arrivals!!! No one more ready than Barbie though. Yes that's right--she is pregnant with puppies! She's content to lay on her back while her human foster sister (4 yr old) rubbbbbs her belly for long periods of time. She seems to be fully potty-trained and fully amazing! Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Sandy, and my favorite thing to do is sit on your lap, cuddle, and give kisses! I like to explore around the house, and I am especially interested in what is inside trash cans. I am working on crate-training, and I almost have potty-training down. I like to play with my squeaky toy, and I LOVE to eat. I can't wait to find my forever home! A note from my foster mom: 'I think Sandy w...ould do well in a house with smaller/calmer dogs (or be the only dog) because she gets overwhelmed and anxious when big dogs try to play with her. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00503Fawn (female)

Pit Bull Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Fawn is a loving, sweet, and enthusiastic companion. She gets along well with most people and other dogs, but does not care for cats. She is almost 2 years old (DOB around 3/1/13) and weighs 60 lbs. She is coming from an active home (2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks, 3 adults, a teen and lots of people in and out of the house) and loves social interaction. She is an inside dog, but loves to lie outside, in the sun (she does need a securely fenced yard). She doesn't like lawn mowers, but has made friends with the vacuum cleaner. She isn't a fan of people with big sticks (pool guy, yard guy). She is fine with thunder and fireworks and loves the water. ... (Read More)She is a snuggler, loves being a lap dog, but is fine by your feet. She is a bed hog but doesn't snore loudly. Fawn needs a loving home with someone who likes to go on walks and throw a tennis ball (she loves her tennis balls). For some unknown reason, she does not get along with my neighbor and recently had an altercation with him (she bit him), so that is why I am sadly being forced to rehome her. :( Fawn is currently being boarded at Four Paws (her vet) in Austin. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-22-00494Nemo (male)

Tibetan Terrier Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Meet Nemo! He is an adorable 4-month-old, 10lb little fluffball believed to be of Tibetan Terrier or Havanese decent. Just like his namesake, he was born with a handicap, but it won't keep him from living a wonderful life! He was turned into a local animal shelter after being found on the side of FM 1960. When he was turned in, it was noted that he walked funny and had something wrong with him. K-9 Angels decided to take him immediately on a medical release and get him to our vet the next morning to figure out what it was. The vet diagnosed him with Cerebellar Hypoplasia, a condition that developed from exposure to the Parvo virus when his ... (Read More)brain was still developing in the womb. This causes permanent neurological damage that is irreversible which also caused him to lose some of his eyesight. Because of this (which is to be expected), he jumps and/or flinches at any sound that he hears. It is also possible that he was abused in the past. He is currently scared and timid, running to hide when someone approaches him, but we think that is something he will overcome once he feels safe and secure in his new home. His fosters are working with him to gain his trust and show him that he no longer has anything to be afraid of. This little dog has been through a lot in his short life so we will be very particular about who can adopt him. If interested in giving Nemo a loving forever home, please fill out an application at www.k-9angelsrescue.org. Anatolian Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

My brother recently passed away and we need to find a home for his large breed dog, a Shepherd mix who is roughly 8 years old. She is currently staying at the Montgomery Animal Hospital in Montgomery, Texas. We need to find placement for her ASAP. She is up to date on all of her shots, and she has been spayed. My brother lived in Colorado for 24 years and has had Ellie for ...about 8 years. I do not know where he got her but she is a large dog that was very attached to him. Why Ellie needs a new home - She was my brother's dog for many years until he passed away on 12/21/14 and she does not appear to do well around the family's other ... (Read More)smaller household pets. However, prior to my brother's divorce in 2012, Ellie did live with 3 other dogs of medium size and they all got along. The other dogs accepted Ellie as the alpha dog. Ellie has been my brother's dog for years and although she will allow adults to handle her, she is very skittish when he was not around. Ellie has never been around smaller children on a long-term basis. She does appear very good around my nieces and nephews ages 5 to 12, however, I have only observed this recently and not for long periods of time. It would be better for Ellie to be with someone who was at home most of the day. Ellie is used to being an indoor dog. Please call Vicky Burg with any questions at 936-718-1685 or by email: vickyburg@consolidated.net. Rescue Me ID: 15-01-05-00188Winnie (female)

Bulldog Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Winnie is a very playful and sweet girl! Although she went through a rough week at the clinic getting better, she immediately made herself at home the first day. I have a 75lb puppy who just turned 1, and she thinks she's the same size. Her favorite game is tug of war, although she never wins. Winnie has an appetite of a grown man and loves to chew bully sticks. She is very obedient and is both kennel and potty-trained. When she isn't eating or playing, she is snuggling or trying to steal the big dog bed. She has been a blessing to foster and whoever adopts her will be forever grateful! Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00105Melody (female)

Cairn Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Although I have only been with my foster mom for a couple of days, she will tell you I am a pretty smart girl. I am starting to understand the concept of the doggie door and go outside when I need to use the restroom. With a bit more practice, I should have it down. I get along very well with my sometimes cranky foster sister. My foster brother and I are pals as long as I stay away from his food. Basically, they are cool, but I enjoy my human foster mom the most. I am a little shy, but I think that will change as I get used to the routine. I've taken a couple walks with my foster mom and she tells me I am very easy to walk. I haven't been ... (Read More)around any small humans, but I liked the 15 year old who helped bathe me. I wasn't thrilled with the bath but stood there and now I feel (and look) much better! Update 12/29: She would be a great dog for a family with older kids and / or calm dogs of any size. She's a nervous around commotion. She is VERY easy going though otherwise, haven't heard her bark yet and is so wonderful in the car. Just sits there quietly. Calm gal who seems to care less about the other dogs (but gets along fine with them) and craves human attention. She is mostly house trained. She knows she needs to go outside but it seems she can't figure out how to ask or go out the doggie door. She is great about coming back in the doggie door though. We are working on it :). Melody is a super soft Cairn Terrier/Shih Tzu mix. The shelter had her listed as approx 5 yrs old. Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Bea is a super sweet and curious dog! She wants to hang out with you all the time. One of her favorite things is to curl up on your foot, but she is also content to sit with you on the couch or floor. She loves to chase squirrels, go on walks, and play with chew toys. She is an expert with both house-training and walking on the leash. She is still getting used to other dogs and seems most comfortable around dogs close to her own size and dogs who are pretty calm. She loves kids and can sometimes get really excited when she sees them. Bea appears to be healthy as a horse! She is a bundle of love ready to come curl up with you! She looks ... Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00096Patton (male)

Basset Hound Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

It's been a rough week...being rescued and moved and neutered and fostered! Yet my FM (Foster Mom) says when she looks at me, I seem to be smiling. I am so eager to please and adapt to situations easily. In some respects, my name is appropriate. I sit on command and come when called -- with military precision. I am housetrained; when I need to go outside, I go and come right back. My Foster Parents really were grateful for this during the cold and rain. I only get up on the furniture after being invited several times. I do not jump up on people but sit patiently waiting to greet them. I sleep all night in the crate without a whimper. I do ... (Read More)love to nap with someone and be in the same room but am not underfoot. I weigh a solid 34 pounds and am about 1 year old. My FM also calls me Sparky. I make friends readily. Although with one guy, it took me around 45 seconds to warm up to him; he had a lot of equipment I wasn't sure about. So I observed him and assessed the situation before quietly and cautiously approaching. Clearly, the painter, handyman, neighbor, and pool guy all wanted me and wanted me to help them! They petted me, talked to me, adored me...rubbed my silky sable head and fabulous ears (particular favorites). All that attention was exhausting. I am mostly good on the leash. Twice I think I've seen an old friend - someone from the streets - and I get happy, excited and bark to try to get their attention, but I don't pull or lunge, for which my FM is very thankful. When I see a squirrel, I sit and stare it down. I am an easy, excellent companion. I would love to be YOURS! We think Patton is a Lab/Bassett Hound mix because he has short legs. German Shepherd Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! My name is Esther! I may be a bit shy when you first meet me, but I quickly warm up. My foster mom says that I am quite a smart girl. Within one day, I learned how to sit on command, climb stairs, and walk on a leash! We are still working on potty training, but if kept in my crate overnight, I am very good at letting my foster mom know that I need to use the restroom outside. I love... playing with other dogs, even big ones! I am not a huge fan of cats, but maybe it's because my foster mom's cat is kinda a jerk anyways (foster mom agrees). I ride really well in a car; I just sit down and calmly look outside the window. I am very good ... (Read More)at not jumping up on furniture, and I prefer to just sit at my foster mom's feet while she works or watches TV. She calls me her furry foot warmer! Chew toys are my favorite! We are working to make sure that I know the difference between my toys and shoes, but I am sure I will learn in no time! If you are looking for a calm, adorable dog who loves belly rubs, then I am your dog! Won't you take me home?? Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00083Hector (male)

Chihuahua Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello there! If you are looking for a snuggle-bug, cuddle-bug, kissable, all-around loving pup, then I'm your man! Everyone who meets me thinks my chocolate coat and floppy ears are the cutest. I love meeting new humans. I like to go up to them flash my dashing smile, wag my tail and receive their pets (my personal faves are head scratches and belly rubs ). What can I say, I'm just a ha...ppy go-lucky kind of guy! When I'm not out and about winning over strangers, I like to lay back and hang out. Playtime is fun, but nothing beats snugglin' on the couch. I'm a great tv watching buddy, cooking helper, and feet warmer. I can be a cuddle bug ... (Read More)on the couch, but can give you space if you need it, too. I just like to be in the same room as a loving human. While my humans are at work, I hang out in the crate. I am not very destructive around the house, so once I learn to do my 'business' outside all the time, I will get the run of the house during the day. My foster mama says I am very close to being fully potty-trained! At night I prefer sleeping in your bed snugglin' or feet warmin' but don't mind sleeping in the crate as long as it's next to my humans! I just know there is a forever home out there for me and my cuddle hungry ways. If you think I could be the floppy-eared fella for your life, then come visit me at the adoption center this weekend! I can't wait to meet you!!! Hector is a Chihuahua/Miniature Pinscher mix. The vet says Hector is 9 months old. He is neutered, heart worm negative and weighs 8 lbs. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00079Blanche (female)

Golden Retriever Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

(To be read in the most high-society southern belle accent possible) Greetings all. My name is Blanche (the Golden Girl) and I am about the sweetest southern belle you ever did meet. Now, I must preface by saying I had fallen on hard times. So be kind to a gal when judging my appearance. I do believe I had a family at one point. When you live so long at a gas station parking lot, it becom...es hard to remember. Being the lady I am, I had to swallow my pride, look as pretty as I could, and beg for food from the random people visiting my temporary home of the parking lot. As you can see, I am quite the stunner when it comes to looks. The ... (Read More)most horrendous of the times was when my eye got terribly infected. Can you believe that? A lady such as myself out in public with an infected eye? As I said, hard times. One Sunday as I was sunbathing to keep my bronzey glow, a car pulled up and a horribly dressed woman got out (my goodness woman, you say you're engaged?! To what? A monkey?) Once I decided to get past her looks, I let her give me an ear scratch. She appeared to have ear scratching experience so I followed her when she went back to the car. She wouldn't let me in. How rude! So I went back to my beauty rest. The next day, the frumpy woman was back. And instead, invited me into her car....as she should! We went for a ride into the city and I stayed at this FABULOUS hotel. At the hotel, I was delivered room service and my embarrassing eye was removed. I even got spayed. A woman like me cant just be running around having children out of wedlock. Now I am back to looking like the lady I once was. Upon leaving the hotel, I was transported to a bed and breakfast. There is another dog (although I cannot say she is quite in my league) but I will say she is friendly. There is a tiny human. He likes to grab my face. But I let him, I do believe he is rather cute. Potty inside? Oh my word not me! I am a LADY and do all my business outside. I sleep on the softest of beds now and as I said, my beauty rest is of the utmost importance: I sleep all through the night. I would love to bring elegance and southern charm to your home. I am about 2 years old and have a lot to offer. Interested applicants may apply at K-9AngelsRescue.org. Blanche is a gentle, Golden Retriever mix who loves children. She weighs about 53 lbs. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. Rescue Me ID: 14-12-30-00077Agatha (female)

Dachshund Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hi, I'm Agatha! I might be a very proper-looking toy dog (if I do say so myself) with a very proper name, but don't let that fool you! I am like the energizer bunny's slightly more well-behaved cousin: I love to run, and I LOVE to play. True to my breed's name, I am a big athletic dog in a miniature size. For you, that means you get the best of both worlds: you can take me on a run, and I'll fit just right in your lap for a good snuggle afterwards. I'm super smart (again, if I do say so myself)--I learned 'sit' and 'down' in less than a day! That being said, I do have a little bit of learning to do: whoever said that dogs can't sit at the ... (Read More)kitchen table or chew on the human's flip-flops did not send me the memo. If you're looking for an active dog that's the right size for an apartment, I just might be your pup. Or, if you're looking for a dog who can play in the backyard with the boys and then snuggle up on the couch, I could belong to you, too. Whatever the case, you'll have a new little princess in the house--let me fall asleep with my head on your shoulder once, and you'll be smitten! Agatha is a Dachshund/Miniature Pinscher mix who is around 1 yr old and about 14 lbs. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Minou is a very sweet, gentle girl who is learning about being a dog. She is learning how to play, run and jump. She is very calm and likes to explore new things in the backyard. She gets along great with the other foster siblings that are in the house - she likes to follow them around. She is pretty smart and is learning to sit. I think she had a rough start in her young life most likely cooped up in a kennel for long periods. She has been doing great with potty training. She had an accident the first day but has gotten into the routine and goes out the doggie door on her own now. She sleeps great through the night. She loves to snuggle, ... Rescue Me ID: 14-12-05-00136Shauna (female)

Scottish Terrier Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, my name is Shauna! I am a young, sweet dog looking for a great home. Not being very old, I like to play and have fun. My foster siblings and I really like to fight over toys and run around the yard. The toys don't last long since we really give them a lot of attention, so plan on buying me cheap ones I can tear up! Being outside is great and I don't dig up the yard or try to leave the fenced area. In the evening, I sit on the couch with my foster mom and watch TV, but when it is time to go to bed, I like to lay right up against a warm body. If you are looking for a sweet dog that loves to give kisses, you have found her! I really like ... (Read More)to show my love for the people in my life. I sit when I get treats, and feeding time with all 4 of the dogs that live here is pretty organized. I know where my spot to eat is at, and I don't bother anyone else while they are eating. I eat twice a day on a schedule so I don't eat too much. I walk well on a leash, but I do get excited at times so you have to remind me to walk with you. I prefer to be out of the crate, but I am okay with being in one if you need me to be until I prove I can be good while you are gone. I am a smart puppy, and I really think I will be able to learn the new rules of my forever home and make you fall in love with me quickly!     Justin James 'J.J.' Squat is a handsome Rat Terrier/Dachshund mix puppy who is currently a star player for the K-9 Angels Rescue Adoptable Dogs League. He is hoping to quickly score the points needed to win his ultimate championship, a loving forever home he can call his own! He is an energetic puppy who makes friends fast and enjoys a good game of chase around the house with his canine teammates. J.J. is loved by his fans, with his number one fan being his foster mommy since he is very eager to please and is a champion snuggler. He is currently working on his house manner skills, as he is a young puppy who seems to have never lived inside a ... (Read More)home. However, it shouldn't take long for him to master these skils because he is a fast learner, especially when given a lot of praise! He has already learned the command SIT in a really short time. He is curious with cats but is quickly corrected if he shows too much interest and has not yet been around kids, although there's no indication he wouldn't be good with them. His foster mommy says 'I know my little J.J. is going to grow up to be just like his namesake, an accomplished Texan who will win your heart!' 12/3/14 Update from His Foster: 'JJ is a keeper and a very special boy! He is smart! He can sit on command, goes outside for all his business and is a world class snuggler-he's so affectionate! He gives you the best hugs, pressing his little head and chest so tightly across yours. You will melt, I promise! He is about 5 months old, but he acts like a much more mature dog. He is great with kids, other dogs and doesn't mind our cat. JJ isn't a barker either and loves laying on a dog bed in our laundry room while we are gone. He is adorable, I love his 'one up, one down' ear look and he even has a HEART spot on his side. JJ has cracked my Top 5 list of favorite fosters for sure!' Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Swayze is a young female Chesapeake Bay I've had the pleasure of being a temporary foster for Swayze. She is a total cuddle bug and bonded with my 5 year old daughter instantly. When they play together, I can tell that Swayze would like to jump up on her or chew on something...but she doesn't. All I have to do is give her a verbal reminder and she'll stop for a moment then wait for permission to play again. Swayze likes when people come over and just needs reminding not to jump up. She hasn't had a single accident in my house and has done well in my townhouse and small patio. She's easy to walk but takes her time sniffing and will pull when ... (Read More)she sees another dog. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-23-00416Ruthie (female)

Shar-Pei Mix    Age: Young Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Ruthie is such a good puppy. Only 7 months old, she is perfectly house-trained. She is the world's best cuddler and isn't content to just lay next you, but rather, she has to lay on top of you. She's sweet with all the other dogs at our house and at the adoption center. We've had her for a long time. In the beginning, she just didn't have much fur due to a skin condition (now gone) and wasn't too appealing to adopters. Now, it must be her dark color, which makes her hard to see in our dark adoption center. The other reason she might not have been adopted yet, is we have never known what breed to list her as. Her super smooth fur and wrinkly ... (Read More)face makes us think Shar-Pei, but her skinny legs confuse her look. So, whatever Ruthie is, she will make someone a very special companion. We'll all be sad to see this sweet girl go, but we'll then be able to save another shelter dog. Ruthie was born in July 2014 and weighs about 25 lbs. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered. Rescue Me ID: 14-10-23-00401Freckles (female)

Australian Cattle Dog Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

I am a female Australian Cattle Dog mix. I came from a bad place, and I am very scared still. My foster mom has been working with me, but I still need someone who is very loving and can work with me longer so I won't be so frightened all the time. I'm very, very sweet! I get along with other dogs, but will be scared when I first meet them. I also get along with children, but again, I am scared when I meet anyone new and tend to hide in corners. I am not a high energy dog, but I do like to play with my toys sometimes. I might have more energy when I become more comfortable at my permanent home. Right now my favorite thing to do is nap in the ... (Read More)same room as my foster mom. I have some minor skin issues, but they are getting better. My foster mom feeds me coconut oil with my food to help my skin and coat, and I love it. She is also putting Neosporin on me a few times a day where I have bad skin spots and they are getting better slowly but surely. I also take Benadryl with peanut butter 2-3 times a day to keep me from scratching and biting so I don't make my skin worse. My foster mom is in love with me so if you are interested, you better adopt me soon before she ends up keeping me. She says I'm the sweetest, cutest dog she has ever seen! Rescue Me ID: 14-10-17-00375Bear (male)

German Shepherd Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, I'm Bear, and I would like to tell you my story. One morning, after roaming the cold rainy streets of Spring Branch, a nice lady and her dog found me while on their morning walk just a few blocks from their apartment. I was hesitant to trust them at first because my last family left me behind (and gave me a messed-up haircut, I might add!). I would have followed them back home, but I was in pain due to my hip dysplasia and couldn't walk very well. The nice lady (who I now call my foster mom) promised to be back with the car, so I waited. Minutes later she found me and took me back to her place. I stayed outside on a nice bed on the ... (Read More)back patio for a couple of days. All I did was eat and sleep! I didn't even bark at people and other dogs walking by unless they got a little to close to the house. Nowadays, I roam around the house all day and night able to go anywhere I please because my foster mom realized I am such a good, well-mannered dog. I'm very respectful and don't mess up the house by chewing things, going through trash, pottying in the house, or anything else that some dogs do that humans don't like. I patiently wait for her to come home and then give her lots of love! The vet told us that I have an old injury that has caused me to be blind in my left eye. I also have hip dysplasia in my right hip and am going to have to have a surgery called an FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy). Otherwise, I'm healthy as a horse! My foster family and friends are really nice, and they're going to get me the care that I need. I'm very outgoing, I enjoy riding in the car, going to dog parks and restaurants, and relaxing at home. I am feeling better everyday thanks to my foster family and friends. Please fill out an application to adopt me if you would like to love me, play with me, scratch my belly and nurture me for the rest of my doggy days! Hope to hear from you soon! A few additional words from my foster mom: Bear is a 65 lb white German Shepherd that's house-trained in unrestrained living conditions. He shares the apt with another unrestrained female dog. Bear keeps himself clean and doesn't really like to get in the tub, but he loves water! Bear barks when strangers approach the door, but has shown no aggression. Bear does 'mouth' when he wants something. He lives in a home with no children but is very friendly to most people when approached, so we don't think he would have any problems. Bear has a bed in my bedroom but sleeps anywhere he sees fit. Bear eats a grain-free limited ingredient diet twice daily. He's not food aggressive or possessive towards others while eating. The cost of the dog food I have been feeding him is approximately $55 per 24lb bag. Due to his hip dysplasia, I give him Glucosamine and Chondroitin supplements. He currently takes Rimadyl and Tramadol to help control his pain until he has his surgery. Bear knows basic commands like sit and down. He does not require a yard and is leash-trained. I don't use , but he is highly likely to be crate-trainable. Bear is affectionate, even-tempered, and so sweet. He would be a great addition to any family! Please consider donating towards Bear's upcoming surgery and medical expenses. You can donate by clicking on this link: https://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=_s-xclick&hosted_button_id=E2QMUYX4KXDWC. Every little bit helps! Thank you! Rescue Me ID: 14-08-05-00675Kitty (female)

Lab Mix    Age: Puppy

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, Everyone! My name is Kitty (Miss Kitty to my foster dad and closest friends). I was named Kitty because when I first came into the K-9 Angels program, I was really really timid, just like a big 'ol scaredy cat! I am a pretty unique character, I must say. I have everyone puzzled as to what breeds I am. I look like a Jack Russell Terrier but am the size of a Labrador Retriever. Perhaps they crossed paths at some point? I am scruffy and have a super cute Mohawk on top of my head. They say I don't 'show well' at the Adoption Center because of my anxiety, so I think that is why I have not been adopted yet. I love my foster home and am a ... (Read More)great foster dog. I have a nice foster dad and furry foster brother, there's a dog run, I get fed well and taken out for walks, and I get to stay in the house every night and most of the day! However, I know I am only here temporarily, so it would make me soooo happy if I could find a forever home, just in time for the holidays! I really like playing with my furry foster brother (and would prefer a permanent home with another dog to ease my anxiety and to have as a companion), but when I sleep, I like my own space. At first I would not even lay down next to my foster dad, but now I lay down AND roll over close to him so I can get a belly rub--I sure do love those! I really love showing my affection to those I'm close with, but once I'm done, I give them their space the same way I like mine. Another thing I love to do is run alongside my foster dad as he rides his mountain bike. One thing that I'm really proud of is that I'm completely house-trained and have never had an accident in my foster home! Another good thing about me is that I don't mind if you have to leave me for a while to go work. Just be ready to get a warm welcoming when you return! One thing I am working on is that I sometimes mistaken shoes and pillows for toys, however, my foster dad is teaching me that is a 'no-no'. Anyway, enough rambling on about me. Please come by the Adoption Center and meet me so I can get to know you! Maybe, just maybe, we will hit it off. Boy I sure hope so! Kitty is around 1 yr old and about 50 lbs. NOTE: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership, K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted and altered.
